Hickory Elementary School, in association with Free the Children and Me to We foundations, began a fundraiser to help raise money for facilities that house clean water and sanitation, to aid children in Kenya. This spring, a school community fundraising event was held at Hickory Elementary. Mr. Phillip Cogdill, a special education teacher at Hickory, coordinated the event. Kim Plewes (pictured), a young civil rights activist with the Me to We Foundation, was invited as a guest speaker to share insight about the organization. Ms. Plewes used powerful and moving stories to honor the many people she has encountered from all over the world.
