Hickory Elementary School Fundraises to Make a Difference

Hickory Elementary School, in association with Free the Children and Me to We foundations, began a fundraiser to help raise money for facilities that house clean water and sanitation, to aid children in Kenya. This spring, a school community fundraising event was held at Hickory Elementary. Mr. Phillip Cogdill, a special education teacher at Hickory, coordinated the event. Kim Plewes (pictured), a young civil rights activist with the Me to We Foundation, was invited as a guest speaker to share insight about the organization. Ms. Plewes used powerful and moving stories to honor the many people she has encountered from all over the world. She used these techniques to motivate students and other community members to make a difference not only in their communities, but around the world. Read more...
