Harford Technical High School Students Recognized by the Maryland Codes Administration
(Bel Air, MD) - - A little over two years ago Jim Ellwood, a Plans Reviewer with the Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits (DILP) increased his participation with the students in the construction program at Harford Technical High School. Elwood had overseen the inspections of modular home units constructed by these students and ultimately donated to Harford Habitat for Humanity for use in the community. Read more...

7th Annual Derby After dArc Celebrity Chef & Auction Event Raises Over $100,000
Over 470 people attended the 7th Annual Derby After dArc Celebrity Chef & Auction event hosted by The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region and sponsored by Smyth Jewelers on March 26, 2011 at the Maryland Golf & Country Clubs! The event more than $100,000 in funds to support Family Support Services that will help children with developmental disabilities and their families to meet every day needs including parent education and training, medical therapies, adaptive equipment, respite, and summer camps.

(Bel Air, MD.) – In 2008, County Executive David R. Craig formed the Energy Management Steering Committee, otherwise known as the Green Team, as one of his Environmental Initiatives. The goal of the Green Team is to guide energy and resource efficiency practices within the County. Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars Competition
Northrop Grumman is now accepting applications for the engineering scholarship competition. Every year for the past nine years, Northrop Grumman has awarded one scholarship to a student in each of Maryland's 24 school systems. These scholarships are presented in support of promising high school seniors who will be pursuing careers in engineering related fields.

Green Construction Grant Funds Training for HVACR Technicians
Qualified individuals have been selected by Susquehanna Workforce Network to receive free training with Harford Community College through a Green Construction grant from the State of Maryland. These students will earn their EPA Certification and Maryland State HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) apprentice license and will be prepared to enter the workforce this spring as HVACR technicians. HCC Holds Food Fight to Help End Hunger
Harford Community College recently challenged employees to a Food Feud, an employee challenge to end hunger in Harford County. At the end of the month-long competition, the College collected 3,930 items – totaling 82 boxes of non-perishable food and goods.

Envirothon Oral Competition at Harford Glen
The Envirothon Oral Competition will be held at Harford Glen on Saturday, March 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Maryland Envirothon is held once a year at an outdoor environmental education center. County Executive Craig Announces Banking & Finance Commission Finding and Recommendations
(Bel Air, MD) - - Harford County Executive David R. Craig has announced the findings and recommendations of the first ever Banking and Finance Commission in Harford County. The Commission was established by Executive Order pursuant to the Harford County Code late last fall.
The Banking and Finance Commission was charged with reviewing the regulatory banking practices that may be preventing businesses from accessing the capital they need to succeed in today’s economy. The 22 member Commission is representative of the Harford County and Baltimore area banking industry, commercial and residential real estate businesses, as well as small and medium sized businesses and regional economic development organizations. During the Commission’s meetings, members were presented with testimony from real life scenarios where businesses and the financial community have been struggling to make deals happen. Read more...
