Bob Six Memorial Joust at Elkridge-Harford Hunt Club

The Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland will present a benefit match on July 9th on the grounds of the Elkridge-Harford Hunt Club to raise funds for the Historical Society of Harford County. The Bob Six Memorial Joust will take place beginning at 11:00 AM in the horse show/polo ring of the hunt club's facility at 3405 Pocock Road Monkton, Maryland 21111 at the corner of the Jarretsville Pike and next to Ladew Gardens. This is a family day and tailgate picnics are encouraged. There is no seating so please bring blankets or lawn chairs. (Please no pets). Read more...

Route 40 Business Association Golf Tournament Benefits The Arc

2nd Annual Tournament Set for June 27 at MGCC

[ABERDEEN, MD] – Registration is underway for the Route 40 Business Association Golf Tournament to benefit The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region.

The tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 27 at Maryland Golf & Country Clubs in Bel Air, Maryland.

At the captain’s choice golf tournament, golfers will enjoy 18 holes of championship golf, cocktails, dinner reception, and awards, and a silent and live auction. Jameel McClain Fitness & Football Clinic

Join Baltimore Raven Jameel McClain for a one day fitness and football clinic. The clinic will be held rain or shine (held indoors if it rains) on Saturday, June 25th at the Edgewood Boys and Girls Club located at 2002 Cedar Lane, Edgewood MD 21040 (off Hanson Rd in Edgewood).

Registration will be at 9:30am and the clinic begins at 10am.

Men's Softball Teams Needed for Bel Air Rec Social League

The Bel Air Recreation Council's Social Slowpitch Softball Program currently has openings for two (2) men's teams. This league is a non-ASA and non-USSSA sanctioned "fun/social league" that allows players in a wide range of ages and abilities to play. It is not meant for highly competitive teams, but rather for groups of players from civic organizations, neighborhoods, church or social groups, and companies that just like to get together and play some ball. Franchot Reports Sacked NFL Season Would Lead to Revenue Loss for Maryland

First in the nation study reveals revenue impact of lost season

Annapolis, MD – While joining the millions of National Football League (NFL) fans around the country in hoping that an agreement is soon reached, Comptroller Peter Franchot today announced that Maryland would lose more than just Sunday afternoon entertainment if the NFL season is lost. According to the study just released by the Comptroller’s Office, Maryland would lose an estimated $40 million in tax revenues if the entire season is canceled. Read more...

Summer Fun Camp in Darlington!

The Wilson Ministry Center in Darlington is hosting a summer camp program for kids ages 5 – 15 years to run for 10 weeks --- the entire summer! --- beginning June 20th through August 26th. Hours are 7:30am to 5:30pm.

The Center has an outdoor playground, basketball court and plenty of space where kids can run and play. Activities include a variety of games, recreation, arts/crafts, music, special guest presentations, weekly theme projects and more! Read more...

Race Across The World at John Carroll High School

SATURDAY, JUNE 18. Come on out and join us for a family fun day and jog-a-thon to benefit CHILDREN OF ZION VILLAGE, an orphanage in Namibia, Africa. The children at the orphanage will be running laps on the same day as we do so here in Bel Air.

Parent Cheerleading Team Named National Champions

With palms sweaty, knees shaking and excitement building in their stomach's, the 14 member PARENT Competitive Cheerleading Team-Eastern Elite Entourage took the stage at Cheer and Dance Extreme's Grand National Championships recently and walked away with a NATIONAL TITLE!

Eastern Elite Entourage is a team comprised of 14 cheerleading and dance parents, ranging in age from 25 to 50 years old-most have never cheered before. A couple haven't cheered or danced since high school. Read more...

HCC Baseball’s Wilson Named Second-Team All-American

BEL AIR, MD - Harford baseball's James Wilson was named a 2011 NJCAA Division I All-American. The freshman shortstop earned Second-Team honors as announced by the national committee.

Wilson led the team and ranked third in the conference with a .430 batting average, a total that ranked in the national top 20 among all Division I players. He totaled 68 hits, 15 doubles and led the team with 54 RBIs. He also currently has a 23-game hitting streak to carry over into next season. Read more...

NCAA Youth LAX Tournament Weekend

Forty students from Frederick Douglass Academy in Brooklyn, NY, are arriving on May 28 at 10am at Broom's Bloom on Route 543 to tour a working dairy farm.

After that, they head to Baltimore City. They return here on SUNDAY, MAY 29 to participate in the NCAA Youth LAX Day Tournament at Cedar Lane Park in Bel Air and Carsins Run Field in Aberdeen. Read more...

HCC's Webb and Lynn Earn NJCAA All-American Accolades

BEL AIR, MD - A pair of Harford Community College women's lacrosse student-athletes were named 2011 NJCAA All-Americans as announced by the national office of Wednesday. Sophomores Holly Webb and Erin Lynn both received First-Team honors.

This marks the fifth All-American honor by a Harford Fighting Owl in the past two school years. Read more...

(Bel Air, MD) - - With spring in the air, Harford County and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council celebrate May as Clean Commute Month and May 20th as Bike to Work Day. County Executive David R. Craig urges everyone to bike to work or try cycling for fun, fitness, or transportation.
