Deerfield Elementary Collects Donations for Harford County Humane Society
Deerfield Elementary School’s Student Government Association recently completed a drive for the benefit of the Harford County Humane Society. Fifth grade officers spread the word and assisted in collecting donations. Blankets, bleach, food, bowls, towels, beds, leashes – nearly eight cases of items were donated to furry friends! Proceeds benefit the homeless and neglected animals at the shelter
Fallston, MD– Put on your dancing shoes, let down your hair, and support the largest party of the year for Harford County’s homeless and neglected animals. The Bow Wow Boogie will be held on Friday, May 6 from 7:30-11:30pm at the Richlin Ballroom, 1700 Van Bibber Road, Edgewood, MD. Tickets are $45 per person or $400 for a table of ten.
Over 400 guests will enjoy an extensive buffet with a roast beef carving station and oysters shucked while you wait, followed by a make-your-own sundae dessert bar. Draft beer, wine and sodas are included in the ticket price with a cash bar for mixed drinks. Read more...

Bel Air, MD – The Harford County Health Department is sponsoring its annual rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats, and ferrets that are 3 months old and over on Sunday, April 17 and Sunday, May 1 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. As a continued incentive to pet owners to vaccinate their pets, the health department has kept the fee for the vaccination at the 2010 cost of $5.00 per animal. An Introduction to Winter Bird Physiology & Ecology at Anita C. Leight Estuary Center
This course, taught by Dr. Mark S. Johnson - President, Maryland Ornithological Society on February 11 & 12, will provide a brief introduction to the world of winter birds and how they cope with changes in habitat and food choices. It will begin Friday evening with a discussion of avian physiology, systematics, and ecology as it relates to many common winter birds. Saturday will involve a closer look at feeder birds as we observe them from the feeders and mark and release them following an assessment of health. Read more...

Walk & Wag-a-Thon and Pet Fair
On Saturday, October 30th from 9am-2pm, the Humane Society of Harford County will hold the Walk & Wag-a-Thon and Pet Fair, a benefit for the homeless and abused animals of Harford County.
