The Nutcracker at the Amoss Center
The Nutcracker will grace the stage of the Amoss Center in Bel Air as Harford Dance Theatre presents the holiday production December 3-5. There will be a full-length performance on December 3 at 8 PM. In addition, there will be matinees for youth aged 5-12 with post-show events on December 4 and 5 at 1 and 4 PM, where audience members can meet Clara and her Nutcracker Prince, Mother Ginger, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Uncle Drosselmeier. Harford County’s Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Another Huge Success
(Bel Air, MD) On Saturday November 13 Harford County participated in the American Medicine Chest Challenge, a National Prescription Drug Take-Back initiative. The drop-off locations were the county office building in Bel Air and the Northern Precinct of the Sheriff’s Office. Over 350 individuals participated in the event which resulted in 1,200 pounds of old and unused medicines being turned in for proper disposal. Congratulations to Dana Waskiewicz, freshman at Harford Technical High School, who participated in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. Dana studies Sports Medicine and is a member of the girls Varsity Soccer Team at Harford Tech. Calling On Residents to Assess Community Health
Bel Air, MD – If you are a Harford County resident, you might be receiving a call that will help improve the health of the community. Beginning on November 15, 2010, randomly selected residents will be called to participate in a health assessment survey designed to determine the key health issues in our community. Previously having conducted surveys in 1996, 2000 and 2005, Healthy Harford is now in the process of conducting the organization’s fourth Community Health Assessment Project (CHAP), the results of which are used to formulate strategy and develop programs in Harford County, as well as to set future health goals for our community. Campaign Kicks-Off for Early Literacy Interactive Space at Bel Air Library
Harford County Public Library Foundation announced the campaign kick-off for the Bel Air Children’s Area Early Literacy Interactive Space. The campaign is a joint effort between the Bel Air Friends of the Library and the Harford County Public Library Foundation. A check was presented to the Library from the Foundation on October 20th in the amount of $10,000, along with a $10,000 donation from the Bel Air Friends and a $5,000 donation from the Morris A. HCPS Elementary Redistricting Draft Plan Now Available Online
Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) has posted its proposed comprehensive elementary redistricting draft plan on the school system’s website. New attendance area maps for individual schools and the district as a whole were released following five regional meetings that took place with designated Focus Groups for each school earlier this week. Focus Groups were established last year to provide the Superintendent’s Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) with parameters for redistricting.
